Three years into Trillium’s partnership with Bay Town Trolley in the Florida panhandle, Hurricane Michael struck the area, inflicting significant damage that included blowing over 80% of bus stop signs.
The hurricane brought the issue of real time rider information to the forefront of agency managers’ minds. They needed a way to reach riders immediately with alerts about service disruptions both large and small.
The solution? Trillium’s Transit Alerts. “It was an inexpensive way to communicate with our customer base,” says Lamar Hobbs, manager of Bay Town Trolley.
Trillium has also helped Bay Town implement GTFS-realtime, enabling riders to get arrival estimates and track vehicle locations. According to Lamar, “Trillium’s greatest trade is their ability to communicate with someone like me who’s an amateur when it comes to technology like this.”
