Trillium Website Privacy Policy

Introduction

Trillium Solutions, Inc. (“Trillium”) provides technical and consulting services to transit agencies. The Trillium Website (“Website”) is designed to provide information about our services to current and prospective clients. This policy (“Policy”) overviews the types of data Trillium may collect and how that data is used so that you can make an informed decision about using this Website.

Information Collected

Information Provided by User

The blog page of the Website (“Blog”) gives users the option of providing an email address to receive notifications when new posts are published on the Blog. Subscribing to the Blog requires checking a box acknowledging that you have read this Policy and actively give consent to providing this information. Other than this option, Trillium does not collect any contact information.

Information Automatically Collected

The Website is hosted through Trillium’s account with WP Engine. WP Engine automatically collects information on all of its website. This information includes non-identifying analytics data (such as browser type) but also may include IP addresses, which are sometimes considered personally-identifying information. WP Engine uses this data in aggregate to analyze trends.

Trillium does not control any data collected by WP Engine, but we do have access to view some of the data they collect. You can view WP Engine’s Privacy Policy here: https://wpengine.com/legal/privacy/.

Trillium also uses a service called Google Analytics to monitor Website use. Google Analytics collects anonymized IP addresses and tracks site behavior such as number of pageviews, average time spent on the Website, and new vs. returning visitors.

Use of Information

Trillium uses the email addresses provided through our Blog subscription form to send blog post updates and for additional marketing purposes.

Trillium uses a service called MailChimp to organize collected email addresses and send our email updates. This means that if you choose to subscribe to either of those, your email address will be shared with MailChimp. You can review MailChimp’s Privacy Policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

We use the information collected through our Website to analyze Website use. This helps us to understand how users use the Website and to make improvements.

Trillium may use the data collected in aggregate in marketing and/or educational materials and provide it to our own employees in the course of normal business.

Data Storage and Retention

The information collected by WP Engine is stored by WP Engine, the information collected by Google Analytics is stored by Google Analytics, and the email addresses provided and shared with Mailchimp are stored by MailChimp. These accounts are accessible by Trillium employees and are password protected.

Trillium has no policy of automatically deleting data after a certain period. This is because Trillium uses analytics data to evaluate patterns and trends and it is useful to be able to see this type of information over a long period of time.

Sharing Data

Trillium may use the data collected in aggregate in marketing and/or educational materials and provide it to our own employees in the course of normal business.

Trillium will not release or sell identifying information to third parties, aside from the access already described in this Policy for WP Engine, Google Analytics, and MailChimp.

Consent

This Policy is posted on our website so that users can always access it.

If you choose to subscribe to our Blog, we require that you check a box agreeing to the terms of this policy and consenting to being contacted by email. By providing your email address and checking this box, you are giving Trillium active and explicit consent to contact you by email with Blog and marketing updates.

Withdrawal of Consent

You can withdraw your consent to our continued collection of information by ceasing to use our Website, and Trillium will retain previously collected data in accordance with our data retention policies and applicable laws.

If you have concerns about your data and would like to have it removed, please contact us at [email protected]. Note that Trillium does not control any of the data collected by Google Analytics or WP Engine, so we may not be able to accommodate your request. However, we are happy to discuss your options and connect you with representatives at either company.

Any email received by Blog subscribers will include an “unsubscribe” button, which withdraws your consent to receiving future emails.

If, after emailing us, you begin using our Website again, or re-subscribe to our Blog, we will consider this explicit consent to start collecting information again.

Children

Trillium complies with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and the Federal Trade Commission’s rule interpreting COPPA (16 CFR § 312). Our Services are not directed at or intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age. If Trillium learns that a child under 13 years of age has provided personal information, that information will be deleted.
